Privacy Policy

DEM Audio, operated by Arnaud Demion in Valais, Switzerland, is responsible for the data described here, in accordance with the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, where it applies, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). We collect as little as possible and never sell it.

Website

  • No cookies, no analytics script, no advertising trackers. The site does not use any tracking tool.
  • Visit statistics. We count visits, downloads and clicks on the Microsoft Store button from the server access logs described below. Before the logs are kept for this purpose, each IP address is replaced by a pseudonym. The statistics are stored on our hosting, outside the public site, and are never shared. The pseudonymised logs are deleted after two years.
  • Contact form. When you write to us, we receive your name, email address, optional phone number and message by email. We use them only to reply and keep them no longer than needed for that conversation. To fight spam, the form counts submissions per IP address for one hour and checks your IP address, and a one-way hash of your email address, against the public StopForumSpam database of known spammers. Your IP address is included in the message we receive, and rejected spam is logged (date, IP address, start of the message).
  • Hosting. The site is hosted by OVHcloud in the European Union, a destination recognised by Switzerland as offering adequate data protection. Like any web server, it keeps technical access logs (IP address, date, page requested, browser, referring page) for security and for the visit statistics, for a limited time.
  • Checkout. The “Buy a license” button opens the Lemon Squeezy checkout. The data you enter there is collected by Lemon Squeezy, not by us (see below).

Purchases

Purchases are handled by Lemon Squeezy, acting as Merchant of Record. Lemon Squeezy processes your payment details; we never see them. We receive your name, email address, country and order details, which we use to deliver and support your license and to meet our accounting obligations. Once a day, an automated job on GitHub (Microsoft) servers reads the server logs and the order data to update our statistics and license overview; it keeps nothing. Lemon Squeezy’s privacy policy applies to the data it processes.

The LinFIR software

  • License activation. When you activate or validate a license, the Software sends your license key, your email address and a machine identifier to the Lemon Squeezy licensing server. This is only used to manage your activations.
  • Bug reports. If you choose to send a bug report (Help → Report a Bug), it contains your description, the application log and basic system information. It does not include your projects or measurements.
  • Update check. The Mac and Linux versions ask demaudio.com whether a new version exists. The request contains the LinFIR version number and, like any web request, your IP address. We count these requests, with pseudonymised IP addresses, to know how many installations are in use and which versions.
  • Nothing else. The Software does not collect statistics on how you use it, and does not transmit your projects, measurements or filters.

Your rights

You can ask us to access, correct or delete your personal data at any time through the contact form. You can also lodge a complaint with the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) or, if you live in the EU, with your local data protection authority.
