Blog
This blog is part of the DEM Audio website, so yes, it's also a shop window, and I won't pretend otherwise. You'll find three kinds of posts here.
LinFIR tutorials. Step-by-step guides to LinFIR, the measurement and filter design software I develop. (Coming soon.)
Technical articles on acoustics and audio DSP. FIR crossovers, measurement methodology, propagation physics, directivity, system design. I write about these because I find them interesting.
Opinion and criticism. Now and then the pro-audio industry publishes specifications, claims or practices that don't hold up technically. When I have something precise to say about one, I say it here, with numbers and physical models to back it up. Brand loyalty and commercial interest play no part in it.
Posts appear when they're written. There's no publishing schedule.
A Boundary Element Solver on Apple's GPU, Checked Against AKABAK
Work in progress: a BEM solver for loudspeakers and waveguides running on Apple Silicon's GPU, compared with exact solutions and with AKABAK 3, the trade's reference. Same curves on a waveguide, fewer errors on a closed body, a whole waveguide in about a second, and a word on far-field polars.

A 160 dB peak, 35 Hz loudspeaker specification checked against amplifier power, cone excursion and nonlinear acoustics: why the numbers cannot add up, and why SPL figures need measurement conditions.
